چکیده

Power link budgets are prepared for wireless optical communication systems to illustrate the optical losses that happens during transmission. This paper has presented optical wireless links which offer ultra multi gigabit per second data rates and low system complexity. For ground space and or terrestrial communication systems, these links suffer from atmospheric loss mainly due to fog, and scintillation. Optical wireless links provide high bandwidth solution to the last mile access bottleneck. However, an appreciable availability of the link is always a concern. Wireless optical links are highly weather dependent and fog is the major attenuating factor reducing the link availability. Link margin, received signal power, transmission bit rate, bit rate distance product, signal to noise ratio (SNR), and bit error rate (BER) are the major interesting design parameters in the current study.

Impacts of the Negative-exponential and the K-distribution modeled FSO turbulent links on the theoretical and simulated performance of the distributed diffusion networks

Merging the adaptive networks with the free space optical (FSO) communication technology is a very interesting field of research because by adding the benefits of this technology, the adaptive networks become more efficient, cheap and secure. This is due to the fact that FSO communication uses unregistered visible light bandwidth instead of the overused radio spectrum. However, in spite of all ...

Indoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order

For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...

Incremental adaptive networks implemented by free space optical (FSO) communication

The aim of this paper is to fully analyze the effects of free space optical (FSO) communication links on the estimation performance of the adaptive incremental networks. The FSO links in this paper are described with two turbulence models namely the Log-normal and Gamma-Gamma distributions. In order to investigate the impact of these models we produced the link coefficients using these distribu...
